INTECH hosts IPR meeting at eve of WIPO General Assembly

On 23-24 September, UNU-INTECH hosted an international seminar on “Contributions to the Development Agenda on Intellectual Property Rights” that brought together scholars, policy analysts and policymakers working in this area. The outcome of the meeting was included in the presentation of the “Friends of Development Group” at the WIPO General Assembly held from 26 September to 5 October.

On 26 September Professor Richard Nelson of Columbia University presented a special seminar exploring why it seems so much easier to advance physical technologies than to devise the governing structures that control these to work effectively and in the public interest. On Wednesday 7th September, Daniel Nougbégnon Dalohoun successfully defended his PhD thesis titled: Learning to Innovate: Agricultural Innovation and Entrepreneurship - The Case of Songhai Farmers in Benin. Daniel is third INTECH student to graduate from the MERIT/UNU-INTECH PhD Programme.
